In a sneak peek, NBC’s The Blacklist teases a new conflict for the show’s final season. The series premiered back in 2013, following the intelligent and highly elusive criminal, Raymond Reddington (James Spader), who voluntarily surrenders to the FBI and becomes an informant in exchange for legal immunity. Working alongside Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), The Blacklist largely focuses on their relationship, but season 9 becomes more about avenging her death – an act orchestrated by Marvin Gerard (Fisher Stevens) after he learns of Reddington’s plans for the future of his operation.
Now, NBC is sharing a sneak peek of The Blacklist’s final season and previewing that this time former Blacklisters will be targeting Reddington.
In the video, star Hisham Tawfiq teases the new conflict Reddington faces, calling it “a war we’ve never seen before,” while Spader says that his character is “on borrowed time” approaching the end with The Blacklist season 10.
What To Expect From The Blacklist Season 10
The Blacklist season 9 finale sees Marvin’s deal to replace Reddington as an informant and create a new task force get accepted, which means Harold Cooper’s (Harry Lennix) prosecution is canceled. Marvin later shoots himself, but not before informing Wujing (Chin Han) about Reddington’s involvement with the FBI and supplying him with a list of people he wronged. While paying an emotional visit to Elizabeth’s grave, Aram (Amir Arison) reveals that he would take some time away from the force and Alina (Laura Sohn) announces she’spregnant.
Heading into The Blacklist season 10, Wujing has begun plotting against Reddington, setting up a fight between criminals. For so long, the series had revolved around the identity of Reddington and his connection to Elizabeth, both of which have been further explored, though there is still no confirmation about who exactly he is. It will be interesting to see how much more is revealed this season, and if Spader’s character makes it out alive in the end.
In terms of cast, Spader, Lennix, Tawfiq, and Diego Klattenhoff have all returned for the final installment. Audiences likely have high expectations after ten years on the air, and the latest sneak peek is teasing a big conclusion. With The Blacklist season 10 touching on different conflicts and storylines—including Anya Banerjee as Siya Malik, the daughter of Meera—longtime viewers should have a lot to look forward to
