Although New York City is usually the immediate destination that everyone thinks of when New Year’s Eve is mentioned, there is another “hot spot” that is considered a better place for the holiday celebration.
According to a survey conducted by Wallethub, Orlando, Florida, came in as the number one best city for New Year’s Eve. San Diego came in second, while New York City came in third.
Wallethub analyst Cassandra Happe revealed how the survey was conducted. “When choosing which city to spend the New Year in, it’s important to consider a variety of factors,” she explained. “From the activities on offer to the size of the crowds and the weather you can expect. The biggest concern has to be the cost. “Hotels and restaurants can significantly increase their prices during the holidays, putting additional pressure on people’s wallets after they have already been hit hard by inflation.”
Wallethub revealed the key reasons Orlando, Florida ranked No. 1 for New Year’s Eve celebrations. “Whether you want to experience vacationing at a stunning destination like Disney World or simply in a home or hotel, Orlando has you covered. The city ranks first for nightlife options and affordable 4.5+ star-rated restaurants, so you can enjoy fun and good food before 2024 arrives.”
WalletHub also noted that Orlando has some of the longest fireworks shows in the country. This is because consumer fireworks are legal. In addition to this, Orlando has the largest number of party supply stores. It is also the second largest number of specialty gourmet food stores in the country. This was calculated by the square root of the population.
However, when it comes to safety, the number one spot in that category went to Lincoln, Nebraska. Orlando ranked 74th and New York City ranked 19th.

Meanwhile, NBC New York announced the lineup for this year’s New Year’s Eve party in Time Square.
Among those performing live at the celebration are Flo Rida, Paul Anka, Megan Thee Stallion and Tyla. Sabrina Carpenter, Jelly Roll, Maria Becerra and Yng Lvcas were also announced as artists. The media outlet also noted that more activities and special appearances will take place throughout the night.
