Regarding his career, Nyjer Morgan signed with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League at age 16. He wasn’t selected for the Vipers after training camp, but he played in two games as an affiliate player in 1996-1997.
He played for the North Okanagan Knights in 1996-1997. The following year, he played for the Nelson Leafs in RMJHL. In 1998-1999, he played for the PIJHL’s Delta Ice Hawks.
He was promoted from the junior “B” Ice Hawks to the major junior Regina Pats the following year (WHL). He had two goals and 20 penalty minutes in seven Pats games in 1999-2000.
