The Telangana region of Hyderabad began to organize in the early 1950s with the request of a separate state. The 1969 state unrest was the result of the Gentlemen’s Non-implementation of the Agreement, and the Telangana region remained discriminatory in employment, education, and government spending. The people of Telangana began to unite in different organizations in the mid-1990s with the need to form their own Telangana state. On November 29, 2009, KCR announced an ongoing hunger strike to promote Telangana statehood. Students, workers and popular organizations joined the movement, which quickly spread like wildfire. The UPA government then began the process of becoming a state in July 2013 and completed it in February 2014 after four years of effective and nonviolent protests.

Telangana culture

The geography, politics and economics of the region have determined the culture of Telangana. Telangana connects the north and south of India. So it’s no surprise that the whole area has become famous for Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb. Often referred to as “South of North and North of South”, Telangana is the best example of India’s complex, pluralistic and inclusive culture.
