Strickland was sworn in as the 68th Governor of Ohio on January 8, 2007. As Governor, he set a firm course guided by his conviction that nothing wrong in Ohio cannot be fixed by what is right in Ohio.
During his tenure as governor, Strickland focused on various policy issues, including health care, education, economic development, infrastructure, tobacco control, veterans services, and social services. From 2007 to 2011, he was the 68th governor of Ohio. In the 2010 gubernatorial election, he was narrowly defeated by former U.S. Rep. John Kasich.
