Tara Mahmood was born in a Muslim family in Lahore, Pakistan. His father, Shafqat Mahmood, is the Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training. He is also the Federal Minister for National History and Literary Heritage, in office since 20 August 2018. Shafqat Mahmood has previously been a part of the Pakistan Administrative Service and the National Assembly of Pakistan. Tara’s mother Humaira Mahmood is a teacher at Lahore Grammar School.

Tara Mahmood started her career as a singer in 2004. He specializes in rock, jazz, funk and R&B music genres. Tara worked as a singer in the entertainment industry until 2006, when she decided to pursue a career in acting as well. He made his acting debut with PTV’s drama serial ‘Inspector Khoji’, in which he played a supporting role. In 2014, she became the lead singer of a Pakistan-based rock band called ‘The Rashk Band’, after replacing the previous lead singer Nazia Zuberi. Rashk is known for performing globally. Tara Mehmood’s best performances as a singer include ‘Mera Naam,’ ‘Tujhay Patta To Chale,’ ‘Bori,’ and ‘Aye Na.’

Tara Mehmood got success in her acting career in 2014 when she appeared on screen as Nabeel’s brother’s wife in Hum TV’s tragic romantic drama serial ‘Mohabbat Subah Ka Sitara Hai’. His acting in the show was highly appreciated by the audience. Subsequently, she became a part of many Urdu drama shows including ‘Goya,’ ‘Soteeli,’ ‘Jackson Heights,’ ‘Diyar-e-Dil’ and many others, but her roles did not make much impact on the Pakistani audience.
