Tara Lipinski and her husband Todd Kapostasy are expecting!
The 41-year-old Olympic figure skater and her director husband announced the exciting news on the latest episode of their podcast/vodcast. Tara Lipinski: unexpected.
On the podcast, the couple have gotten candid and shared their struggles with fertility and IVF over the past five years of trying to become parents.
In this week’s episode they share about finding and meeting their surrogate, Mikayla, and how to get a positive pregnancy test.

“There was an immediate connection and bond between us, something I didn’t expect to feel so strongly. A two-peas-in-a-pod feeling… teammates at the deepest level,” Tara shared about Mikayla.
“She has been able to give me peace of mind and make the trip the best it can be, especially for someone who has been through a lot of trauma,” he added in the episode.
While Mikayla is in another state, they stay in touch regularly.
“We talk every day. Now we have become close friends and created this beautiful connection that I didn’t expect at this time,” Tara said.
Over the past five years on this motherhood journey, Tara has been under anesthesia 24 times, had four miscarriages, four D&Cs, six failed transfers, eight recoveries, and was diagnosed with endometriosis with two subsequent major surgeries.
