Swapna Patkar is an Indian clinical psychologist, celebrity life coach, author, filmmaker and businesswoman. In August 2022, an audio tape of Indian politician Sanjay Raut went viral in which he was said to be abusing Swapna.

Swapna Patkar was born on Friday, 16 April 1982 (age 40 years; as in 2022) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Aries. After completing his engineering, he did Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery from Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur in 2015. Swapna also holds a PhD degree from Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. However, his degree was found to be fake and he was arrested by Bandra Police in 2021.

He worked there for four years and then worked as a visiting officer in various educational institutions in Mumbai such as St. Francis Institute of Management and Research, KC College of Technology, Mumbai. He then started Mindworks Training Systems, a wellness clinic and online counseling organization in Mumbai. In 2012, he founded ‘Dream and Happiness’, a mental wellness, training and coaching institute in Mumbai. In October 2016, she joined ‘Evil by EPSClinic’, an online psychological treatment platform, as a senior psychologist. Accused of having fake degree
In April 2021, Swapna was arrested for possessing a fake degree. Reportedly, her fraud came to light when Gurdeep Kaur Singh, a social worker, received an envelope from an anonymous person containing documents related to her fake degree. Gurdeep immediately lodged a police complaint against Swapna and she was arrested for possessing a fake degree. According to some media sources, based on his degree he got a job in one of the top hospitals in Mumbai. Later, during the hearing of the case, Swapna said that Indian politician Sanjay Raut hatched a complete conspiracy for her arrest. Swapna said,
The arrest is a “revenge arrest” as I had filed a case of being stalked by particular persons “allegedly at the behest of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut”.
According to the 13-page judgment of the Bombay High Court,
The petitioner is a woman. In the urgency of the situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the aspect of continued detention of the petitioner also deserves consideration. The petitioner claimed that a minor son and others were dependent on him. Since we are of the view that the offense punishable under Section 467, which provides for life imprisonment, does not constitute a prima facie case, in the specific facts of the case, the above factors induce us to grant the relief of bail pending trial to the petitioner. Consideration of this petition for quashing of charges of offenses punishable under sections 467 and 468 of the Penal Code.
The court further said,
In the light of the legal position based on the facts of the case, prima facie, the PhD certificate does not fall within the definition of valuable security. The contention of the prosecution that the internal evidence of the PhD certificate exposes the fact that the certificate is forged, if seen in the background of the typographical and grammatical error in the patent, may have some substance. However, at this stage, at most, it can be said that the charge for the offense punishable under Section 465 has been prima facie made out. The further issue as to whether an offense punishable under Section 467 of the Penal Code is made out or not is a matter which requires consideration. Since the investigation is ongoing, we do not propose to go into depth on this aspect of the matter. It would suffice to see that the question of involvement of the petitioner in the offense punishable under Section 467 of the Penal Code would be worthy of consideration and examination.”
However, on 27 June 2021, Swapna got bail from the Bombay High Court.
Sanjay Raut’s humiliating audio tape
Following the arrest of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in a money laundering case on 29 July 2022, his humiliating audio tape went viral on various social media platforms. In the audio, he was abusing Swapna Patkar. In an interview, when Swapna was asked about the audio tape, she said that the feud between Swapna and Sanjay started soon after the death of Indian politician Bal Thackeray in 2012. During an interview he shared many incidents. He said,
After Bala Saheb, Shiv Sena also lost its mobilized support. And Sanjay Raut started all his nonsense. He became a free bird and started doing whatever he wanted. He used to guide me at every step of life – don’t do this, don’t do that; Don’t meet this person, don’t meet that person. In 2013, I was attacked twice with sharp knives. My FIR is also registered in Mahim police station. In another incident, my car was vandalized in Vakola and I had also lodged an FIR at Vakola police station. No one has been caught yet. The culprits are still unknown to me. Everything was manipulated according to Raut’s whims and wishes. It took me 8 years to realize this.”
He said that he never realized that the attack on him in 2013 was planned by Sanjay Raut. She further said that in 2014, Raut became very sensitive towards her and hired an encounter specialist, Prafulla Bhosle, who interrogated her family and friends. Prafulla also kept a daily eye on Swapna’s activities. She further said that he also started abusing her when she disagreed with his instructions. After this, Swapna presented a call recording in the court in which Raut was using abusive language against her. In 2017, his Facebook account was also hacked and a suicide was posted from his account. He blamed Raut and his associates for this.

Swapna said the mental harassment increased and in 2020, she started receiving video calls on WhatsApp from some unknown numbers, in which some naked men would talk. It was also said that Sanjay Raut was behind all such activities as Swapna Patra was a witness in the land scam case in which Sanjay was the prime suspect. During an interview, when he was asked about taking some legal action against him, he said,
I am suffering since 2013, I have reached out to police, NCW, NHRC, High Court; I tried everything I could. I soon realized that even the court was not considering it as a serious situation and was not taking my case forward. I’m going nowhere. No one is helping me and I am being defamed at every step. I want to ask everyone that if a woman has to face such cruelty then where should she go? All the authorities have failed me. I have written to Uddhav Thackeray, to the PMO, to Arvind Kejriwal, to Sonia Gandhi, to Devendra Fadnavis, to Chitra Wagh, to Subhash Desai, to Anil Desai. I have tried everything possible for myself. I didn’t want to bring it into the public domain and damage my reputation and career.
