Only woman panel member in the amendment of ‘Child Marriage Prohibition (Amendment) Bill’
In January 2022, Sushmita Dev, a lawyer and member of the Rajya Sabha, was the only woman on the 31-member panel in the standing committee that was set up to examine the bill that would lower the marriage age of Indian women to 18. There was a proposal to increase it from 1 to 18. 21.
