- During the shooting of Hud Kar Di Aapne (2000), there were rumors of an affair between Rani Mukerji and Govinda, which led to a decline in Govinda and Sunita’s married life.
- In 2018, in an interview, Sunita revealed that her family had severed all ties with Krushna Abhishek and his wife Kashmera Shah. In the interview he said-
Krishna’s claim to fame has always been that he is the nephew of Govinda. He’s milked it enough. He has been with us for years and we have always loved him. It is a shame that they talk rubbish about us behind our back.”

- This was the time when Govinda was a struggling actor in the industry. He often used to visit his uncle Anand Singh (filmmaker) house. It was during one such visit that he met Sunita, who was Anand Singh’s sister-in-law.
- Sunita and Govinda often got into fights due to difference in their personalities and views. After knowing each other for a year, the two started dating. Soon Govinda’s mother came to know about their relationship and advised them to get married.

- Sunita and Govinda used to communicate with each other through letters, which they exchanged with the help of their brother. One day Sunita’s mother got a letter and she came to know about their affair. She strongly opposed their relationship mainly due to the fact that Govinda was an actor.
