Sulajja Firodia Motwani is an Indian businesswoman. She is the Vice President of Kinetic Engineering Limited. Their industry manufactures a complete range of two-wheeler mopeds, scooters and motorcycles. Electric autos, buggies and small electric taxis were also launched by them with the aim of green mobility and electric vehicles with Make in India target. Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Limited was set up by Sulajja to manufacture these three-wheelers.

Sulajja Firodia Motwani was born as Sulajja Firodia on Wednesday, 26 August 1970 (age 51 years; as in 2021) in Maharashtra. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. He received his schooling from Garware School, Pune. In 1990, Sulajja received a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, University of Pune. Later, at the age of 21, she went to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh to pursue an MBA degree.

After completing his MBA at the age of 21, he began working for four years with Barra International, an investment advisory firm in California. While on the job, she was in the sales and finance department. During this time, she also met her husband Manish Motwani and married him. Both of them were USA green card holders. However, in 1996, due to the death of their grandfather, both Sulajja and Manish gave up their US citizenships and returned to India and joined Kinetic. Initially at Kinetic, he managed the company’s strategies and policies, sales, marketing and finance departments and portfolio. Speaking to Outlook Business, he said,
During the first few years I traveled across the country and met dealers.”
In the 1980s, the market share for Kinetic sales was 55%, but a decade later, it fell to 22% and then soon to 5%. It faced a lot of competition from TVS Suzuki and Hero Honda who were also motorcycle manufacturers in India. Suljja said in an interview that Honda had formed a joint venture with Hero to manufacture motorcycles. He narrated,
We depended on Honda for technology. But once they realized that they were coming on their own, they stopped providing us with new technology. This affected our rollout.”
In 1998, the Kinetic-Honda joint venture was discontinued. Under Sulajja’s leadership, Kinetic tried to launch its own motorcycles and scooters with other companies from 1998 to 2008. However, the partnerships failed. In 2004, Taiwan-based Sanyang Motor Company took an 11% stake in Kinetic’s Indian operations and soon, successfully launched a model called Flight. He said in an interview about the new launch and partnership,
The venture with Sanyang was going well and we had successfully launched a model called Flight.
However, by then, the company was down to Rs. 5 billion loan. In 2011, Sulajja Motwani interacted with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which introduced her to the concept of EVs. In 2012, she went to California to research and develop three-wheelers. Soon, his efforts gave birth to Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions in India. In 2014, Kinetic Green began manufacturing and selling golf carts. While talking to a media house, he commented on this event,
Since three-wheelers (3W) will take a few years, we said let’s look at the acceptance of our product, the technology and understand the market better.
In 2016, Motwani earned a turnover of Rs. 50 million. Soon, Motwani also launched an e-rickshaw, priced at Rs. Over 100,000 battery charges. In this launching Rs. 150 million turnover in 2016. In 2017, Motwane and team were paid Rs. An order of Rs 4 billion was received from the UP government for 27,000 e-rickshaws, which was approved by the then Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party (SP).

She is the mastermind behind Kinetic Group’s business strategies, research and development, including automobile manufacturing, powertrain systems, green energy, multilevel parking solutions, elevators and escalators. Hyundai, Lamborghini, Tizen Electrical, Magna Kinetic are the partners of the company. The business strategies of Kinetic Group are also implemented by them. He was also elected as the President for FICCI Maharashtra. She is a member of the National Steering Committee of FICCI. She is the co-chair of the Electric Vehicles Task Force at FICCI. She heads Electric Three-Wheeler Mobility of SMEV (Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles).
