The murder of Dorothy Stratten
Dorothy and Snider were married in June 1979 in Las Vegas. And as she rose as a star, their relationship ran into multiple problems. Now, speaking of the day of the murder, Dorothy arrived for her meeting with Snider at noon on Thursday, August 14.
Therefore, Snider’s two roommates left in the morning. Thus, the couple was alone when Dorothy entered the house that she had shared with her husband until just a few months before.
To all appearances, Dorothy had spent some time in the drawing room. There, her bag was open before she and Snider entered her room.
And, when the roommates returned to the house, they saw that Dororthy’s car was parked out front and noticed that Snider’s bedroom door was locked. And, assuming they needed some privacy together, the two spent the next few hours watching television in the living room.
However, shortly after 11 p.m., they entered the bedroom and found the bodies of Dorothy and Snider.
Both were killed by a single shot from Snider’s shotgun and both bodies were nude. According to the police investigation, Snider had shot Dorothy that afternoon within an hour of her arrival at the house.
And then, he killed himself an hour after the murder. Also, in Los Angeles, Dorothy’s body was cremated and her remains were interred at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
