In 2008, he started working as Assistant Collector and Assistant Magistrate (Junior Scale) in Agra till 2011. On 7 February 2011, he was appointed as Chief Development Officer and Under Secretary and District Collector and District Magistrate at junior scale in Mathura. In Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department at Mahamaya Nagar till 05 May 2012. After that, he started serving as District Magistrate and Under Secretary in Sonbhadra till 29 September 2012. He joined as District Magistrate and Under Secretary in Jaunpur on 30 September. 2012. He served as District Magistrate and Deputy Secretary in Azamgarh till 20 May 2017. In 2017, Suhas Lalinakere was honored by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh for his tireless efforts during the general elections in the state as an IAS bureaucrat. During the same period, he was honored by the Revenue Minister and the Chairman of the Board of Revenue for his exceptional services in revenue administration. Suhas Lalinakere started working as a district magistrate officer in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh in February 2019. He was the District Magistrate of Prayagraj before joining Gautam Buddha Nagar. During the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India in 2020, he was appreciated for preventing the transmission of coronavirus in Gautam Buddh Nagar by working day and night in maintaining corona protocols. While talking to a media person, he talked about his dedication towards his duties.

Men’s Para-Badminton
In 2016, Suhas Lalinakere became the first specially abled IAS officer to represent India at the Yathiraj Para-Badminton Championships. Suhas Lalinakere became the first para-badminton player who was a bureaucrat from India and won the Asian Para-Badminton Championship Series held in Beijing, China in 2016. Indonesia’s Harry Susanto won the gold medal after losing to him in the final match. At that time he was also working on the post of District Magistrate in Azamgarh.
On World Disability Day on 3 December 2016, Suhas Lalinakere was honored by the Uttar Pradesh state government for his exemplary performance in para-sports while serving as a government official. In the men’s singles category at the 2nd National Para-Badminton Championship held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in March 2018, Suhas Lalinakere became the national champion by winning the gold medal.

- According to Suhas Lalinakere, he loved his work so much that he did not get tired even while serving as an IAS officer and playing badminton. In an interview with ANI he said,
I love my work so I don’t get tired while practicing badminton along with work. Badminton is a spiritual exercise for me. This is an area like meditation for me. Everyone has 24 hours a day, some people have them, some people make excuses for them.”
- On 1 December 2016, Suhas Lalinakere was awarded the Yash Bharti Award, considered the highest civilian honor of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave him this award.
- Suhas was awarded a certificate by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for winning a medal in the international championship for the country in 2017.

- After completing his software engineering degree in 2004, a year later, he started studying for the civil services examinations and soon, he started preparing for it and finally, cleared it in 2007. In an interview with a media correspondent, Suhas spoke about his UPSC. Leaning,
I want to thank God for this because when I was studying, I had not even thought of becoming a district collector. It was like a dream come true, then I got the opportunity to participate in civil services also.”
- Suhas Lalinakere passed the UPSC exam at the age of 37 and is considered to be India’s first disabled IAS officer. At first, he was appointed to serve Agra, Uttar Pradesh as a bureaucratic officer.

I would like to appeal to all parents, especially those who have a son or daughter with a disability, to please encourage their children to take up sports and instill in them the confidence that they can achieve anything if they try. There will be wins and losses but they can achieve anything.
- According to Suhas, he received his school and college education from general educational institutions and by studying hard he achieved the goal of his life i.e. to become an IAS officer. He further said in an interview with ANI in 2020 that he achieved many medals for his country in the Paralympic Badminton Championships only through rigorous efforts. He revealed,
I want to tell all the people and especially the youth that whatever you want to do in life, try to do it. Because in life sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but we should never step back from efforts. I want to say to all the youth that I studied in normal school and college and joined civil services and now I am going to Paralympics.
- Suhas Lalinakere was selected to represent India at the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo (August 24 to September 5).
