Namita Thapar was born on Monday, 21 March 1977 (age 46 years; as in 2023) in Pune, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Aries. He completed his primary and secondary education in a school in Pune. While in school, Namita gave up all extra-curricular activities and focused her full attention on her studies. She was a bright student and always stood first in her class (during school days). After completing her schooling, Namita joined Pune’s Savitribai Phule University to pursue B.Com. Meanwhile, he also did Chartered Accountancy from ICAI. After completing her MBA, Namita worked for a while at GlaxoSmithKline, a British multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company headquartered in London. Later, he got a job at Guidant Corporation, a medical device company in the United States. He began working there as the Business Finance Lead in the Financial Planning Department. He served the company in various capacities for about 6 years. Thereafter, she joined Emcure Pharmaceuticals as CFO. Gradually, her operational area in the company increased and she started looking after the Indian business of the company. As of 2022, he is serving as the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.
In 2017, he founded the education company ‘Incredible Ventures Limited’. The company aims to promote youth entrepreneurship by developing entrepreneurial skills among children in the age group of 11-18 years. It has branches in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
Thapar is a board member of the Fuqua School of Business’s Regional Advisory Board. Namita is an active member of Young Presidents Organization. She is also a Trustee of the TiE Mumbai Board of Trustees. In December 2021, she appeared as a jury member in Shark Tank India, the Indian adaptation of the popular American business reality show ‘Shark Tank’. The show consists of a panel of potential judges also known as sharks who listen to and invest in various new business models and ideas.
She is also associated with various government initiatives like ‘Women Entrepreneurship Forum’ and NITI Aayog’s ‘Digital Health Task Force’ and ‘Champions of Change’. These programs were launched by PM Narendra Modi as a part of G2B partnership in policy making. Namita is an entrepreneur as well as a writer. In August 2022, he released his book The Dolphin and the Shark (Stories on Entrepreneurship). Published by Penguin Random House India, the book unfolds Namita’s journey from an overweight Gujarati girl with low self-esteem to a successful entrepreneur who took her father’s business to new heights.

- He is fond of watching Bollywood movies. During an interview, she told that before her marriage, she used to go to the theater for the First Day First Show of almost all Bollywood movies. Namita further revealed that she named her children Veer and Jai after the main characters of the Bollywood film Sholay (1975).

None of the boys looked at me, it was me looking at boys and crushing on them, let’s just say it. When you’re body shamed like that as a teenager, it leaves a lot of scars… I had a lot of facial hair and acne, and there was a boy in my class who called me ‘mustache girl’ in Marathi.
