Kenneth Mitchell spoke about his battle with ALS years before his death
In a 2020 interview with PeopleKenneth Mitchell took an inside look at his battle with ALS and shared how he and his family coped with the disease.
“I think over time it became a matter of accepting this gracefully,” Mitchell explained. “Try to see the beauty in it, somehow.”
“I will never forget him, one of my Star Trek The co-stars told me, because they had been through some tough times with illnesses and stuff, and I remember them reaching out to me and saying, ‘You have a choice.’ “You can look at this in a lot of different ways, but maybe try to see it as a gift where you can experience life in a way that most people don’t.”
“From that point on, it became, ‘Let’s spend time with the family,’” he continued. “We took a couple of vacations. She took the children out of school. We had meetings with all their schools, with the principal, the counselors, their teachers. “Everyone supported and understood the situation.”
