Sonu Sood is an Indian actor, model and producer who has predominantly worked in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. The actor is also known for his humanitarian work.

Sonu Sood was born on Monday, 30 July 1973 (age 50 years; as in 2023) in Moga, Punjab. His zodiac sign is Leo.
He did his schooling from Sacred Heart School, Moga.
After completing his tenth grade, Sonu worked for some time in his father’s showroom in Moga, where he learned to identify different clothes and also sell them. Subsequently, he moved to Nagpur and joined Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering to pursue electronic engineering. Sood was good in academics during his school and college days. When he was in his second year of college, his friends encouraged him to pursue modeling and acting.
After completing his graduation, Sood moved to Mumbai and started taking modeling assignments.
During his early years in Mumbai, Sood took a job in a private firm in South Mumbai to support his daily expenses. Before becoming an actor, he had also participated in Grasim Mr. India Contest and reached the top 5.

Sonu Sood started her acting career in 1999 with the Tamil film “Kallazhagar”, in which she played the role of ‘Soumya Narayanan’. Subsequently, he starred in the Telugu film “Hands Up!” Played the role of a villain. He made his Bollywood debut in 2002 with the Bollywood film “Shaheed-e-Azam”, in which he played the role of ‘Bhagat Singh’. He came into limelight after playing the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s brother in the Bollywood film “Yuva”.
In 2005, he acted in the Telugu film “Super” and gained huge popularity. Subsequently, he appeared in several Telugu films such as “Athadu,” “Ashoka,” “Arundhati,” “Ek Niranjan,” and “Shakthi.”
Some of his popular Bollywood films include “Aashiq Banaya Aapne,” “Dabangg,” “Happy New Year,” “Gabbar Is Back” and “Simmba.”
Sood made his English film debut in 2017 with the film “Rockin’ Mira”. He has also starred in the Chinese film “Xuanzhang”.

fraud allegations
In 2013, filmmaker Sheetal Talwar had filed a fraud case against Sonu Sood for renting out a property on Yari Road by saying that the land was free from any legal disputes, which was not the case.
coming out of manikarnika
Sonu came into limelight again when he was out of the film “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”. Kangana Ranaut alleged that Sood backed out of the film because he was unwilling to shoot under a female director. However, Sonu clarified that the issue is not about the gender of the director but about the qualification. He issued an official statement saying,
Kangana is a dear friend and she always will be but constantly playing the woman card, the victim card and making this entire issue about male supremacy is ridiculous. The gender of the director is not an issue. Have the qualification. Let’s not confuse the two. I have worked with Farah Khan who is a capable female director and Farah and I had a very good professional equation and we are still best friends. That’s all I would like to say.”
Converting a residential building into a hotel
In January 2021, a complaint was filed by the BMC (Mumbai’s civic body) against the actor for converting a six-storey building in Mumbai’s Juhu into a hotel. Reportedly, Sonu Sood used this building for quarantine facilities for medical professionals during the initial days of the coronavirus lockdown in the country.
Income tax raids and tax evasion
On September 16, 2021, the Income Tax Department had raided several premises associated with the actor including Mumbai, Nagpur and Jaipur. According to officials, a real estate deal and some other financial transactions related to the actor were under the scanner of the department. A few days later the actor was accused of theft of Rs. Rs 20 crore by the Central Tax Board. According to the Income Tax Department, which raided Sood and his Lucknow-based infrastructure group, the actor derived his “unaccounted income in the form of fake unsecured loans from several shell entities.” It was also found that he violated the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) while raising funds from abroad. Tax officials cited that the actor’s charity foundation, which was set up in July 2020, raised Rs. Donation of Rs 18.94 crore from April 2021 to September 2021; However, only Rs. Rs 1.7 crore was spent on relief work. On September 20, 2021, Sonu Sood released a statement on social media which read –
