Somabhai Modi is an Indian activist, former health department inspector of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician. The 14th Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is his younger brother.

Somabhai Damodardas Modi was born on Thursday, 19 November 1942 (age 80 years; as of 2022) in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, Bombay Presidency, British India (now in Gujarat, India). Their zodiac sign is Scorpio.

Since Soma was interested in studies, he did not join his father in running the tea shop. After passing the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) examination, Soma joined the health department in 1960 and served as an inspector in the AMC until his retirement in 2013.
Politics
Somabhai Modi became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1994. Before any election, the party asked him to visit various constituencies of Gujarat and prepare and submit a report about the issues of the people living there. However, Soma did not pursue a career in politics because it did not appeal to him. Although various BJP politicians repeatedly requested him to enter politics, he always denied it. Talking about this in an interview he said,
It has always been clear in my mind that I do not want to enter politics. I want to work freely.”
Somabhai Modi established a trust named Sarvodaya Seva Trust on 26 March 1999 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He established an old age home, Visamo Old Age Home, in the memory of his father Damodardas Moolchand Modi on 29 January 2001. Under the aegis of Sarvodaya Seva Trust, Soma established a physiotherapy center on 7 May 2006. He expanded his trust by establishing one. The clinic has been named Pain Relief Facility Center. The clinic provides treatment to people suffering from severe back and neck pain. On 16 February 2021, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the old age home, the name of Visamo Old Age Home was changed to Late Damodardas Moolchand Modi Sevashram. His mother Hiraben Modi unveiled the statue of Damodardas Moolchand Modi. Talking about this, Soma said in an interview,
It was a quiet and private ceremony. My mother Hiraba inaugurated the statue. We had organized a small celebration with the members of our old age home and some close people from our city.

- According to Somabhai Modi, when Narendra Modi told him that he wanted to become a politician, he had doubts about his decision because politics could create instability in Narendra’s life. Talking about this he said,
Of course, I was a little worried. No one from our family was in politics. I was afraid that his life would be unstable.
- Somabhai Modi once wrote a letter to Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In his letter he advised them to avoid exposing their acquaintances during public meetings as it is inappropriate. When Narendra Modi asked about the well-being of an old acquaintance who was present among many other attendees at a public meeting, Soma wrote a letter. read the letter,
I thought this was not right. I wrote that revealing acquaintances during such a public meeting is not ideal. You were sitting there as a judge. People may object to this, and they may even misinterpret your decision – it doesn’t matter that you may have made an unbiased decision. I wrote about a film I saw long ago, Sohrab Modi’s Nausherwan-e-Adil, in which Nausherwan punishes his son for a crime despite his wife’s cries.
