He did his schooling from Army Public School in Delhi. Siddhartha obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with History Honors from Hindu College in 1983. In 1986, he obtained his LLB degree from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He enrolled in the Bar Council of Delhi on 24 July 1986.

Siddharth Mridul started practicing as an advocate in the Delhi High Court in 1986. He expertly handled a wide variety of legal matters including Writ and Writ Appellate Jurisdiction, Civil Original and Appellate Jurisdiction, Company Jurisdiction and Criminal Jurisdiction. Apart from her practice in the Delhi High Court, Mridul also gained wide experience in various other prestigious courts and tribunals. These include the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, the Karnataka High Court at Bangalore, the Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, the Company Law Board, the Appellate Authority for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction, the Debt Recovery Tribunal, and the National and State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions at Delhi. In 2004, he served as Standing Counsel for the Union of India.

Two years later, he was appointed as a Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India. In May 2006, Siddharth was designated as Senior Advocate. He actively contributed as a member of the Disciplinary Committee using his expertise in maintaining professional standards. Additionally, he played important roles in the Bar Council of Delhi, serving as Honorary Secretary from 1994 to 1997 and Vice-Chairman from 1998 to 2003.

After being appointed by the Delhi High Court, he served as a member of several committees addressing various important issues. These committees were specifically entrusted with examining matters such as rehabilitation of children after the abolition of child labour, dealing with illegal construction violating municipal bye-laws, and his membership in the committee responsible for proposing, supervising and implementing measures to ensure the efficient and hygienic functioning of the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Siddharth was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on 13 March 2008 and was appointed as a permanent Judge on 26 May 2009.

On 26 February 2021, Chief Justice DN Patel appointed Siddharth Mridul as a member of the Governing Council of the National Law University, Delhi. The appointment was valid till June 29, 2023. On 5 July 2023, The Supreme Court Collegium consisting of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna recommended the name of Justice Siddharth Mridul as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Taking into account all the relevant factors, the Collegium is of the opinion that Shri Justice Siddharth Mridul is fit and suitable in all respects for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.

Earlier, on 9 February 2023, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended to the Center the elevation of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, which was still pending with the Central Government. Accordingly, the Collegium recommended the appointment of Justice Thakur as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which, in turn, would require a fresh recommendation for the post of Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.

Salary

As per the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), a High Court judge is expected to draw a salary of Rs. 2,25,000 in addition to various other allowances.
