Shamas Nawab Siddiqui is an Indian film director. He is the brother of popular Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Shamas Nawab Siddiqui started working as a TV director in 2005 and has directed many TV programs since then. In 2015, he directed the short film ‘Mister, Come Tomorrow (Miyaan Kal Aana)’, which was produced by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film was based on the Nikah Halala practice in Islam. The film was later screened at the Cannes International Film Festival 2015 as part of the Short Film Corner category.

After the success of his first film, he directed a few more films, including ‘Bole Chudiyan,’ ‘Zero Kilometer,’ ‘Chalta Purja,’ ‘Gehu, Ganna Aur Gun,’ and ‘You Are Not My Husband’ .

Apart from direction, Shamas also tried his hand in film production. He has produced several Bollywood films like ‘Manto’, ‘Rome Rome Mein’ (2019), and ‘No Land’s Man’ (2021).
Controversy
defamation case
On 20 March 2023, Nawazuddin Siddiqui filed a defamation suit against his estranged wife Anjana Pandey (Alia) and Shamas Siddiqui, demanding Rs 100 crore as compensation for the losses caused by the misleading claims made by him. Demand was made. However, the actor later sent a “settlement draft” to his wife. Reportedly, Shamas worked as Nawazuddin’s manager from 2008-2020, during which he was accused of cheating and betraying Nawazuddin. The actor claimed that he has received legal notices from various government officials for the outstanding amount of Rs 37 crore, which was to be paid by Shamas. She further claimed that Shamas and Anjana blackmailed her through “cheap videos” and comments on social media. In response to the allegations made by Nawazuddin, Shamas wrote a long note for the actor on Twitter, in which he questioned his defamation case and also revealed his other legal matters.

- Shamas Nawab Siddiqui has participated in film festivals in more than 35 countries for his film “Mian Kal Aana” (2015). The film has won 14 international awards and was selected for 34 official nominations. Talking about this in an interview he said,
I had the opportunity to travel to film festivals in 35 countries Mian come tomorrow (About his previous short film, ‘Triple Talaq’), which I can never forget.
- In an interview, he revealed how his elder brother Nawazuddin Siddiqui encouraged him to pursue a career in film production. He revealed that Nawazuddin had once read his notes, in which he had written about the scenes he had imagined. He said,
After studying, Nawaz Bhai asked if I wanted to study further or join him in Mumbai to do cinematography. He helped me understand world cinema and also encouraged me to write scripts.
