Sushil Kumar was reportedly absconding after Sagar Dhankar was beaten to death during a dispute in the parking area of Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. After the incident, the police registered an FIR against Sushil Kumar for murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy. On 17 May 2021, Delhi Police announced a reward of Rs. Rs 1 lakh for giving information leading to the arrest of absconding Sushil Kumar. On May 22, 2021, Sushil was arrested along with co-accused Ajay from Mundka area of outer Delhi. Reportedly, Sushil had asked his friend Prince to make a video of the incident in order to terrorize the wrestling circuit in the city.
