After the incident, the police registered an FIR against Sushil Kumar for murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy. On 17 May 2021, Delhi Police announced a reward of Rs. Rs 1 lakh for giving information leading to the arrest of absconding Sushil Kumar. On May 22, 2021, Sushil was arrested along with co-accused Ajay from Mundka area of outer Delhi. Reportedly, Sushil had asked his friend Prince to make a video of the incident in order to terrorize the wrestling circuit in the city.
