Sangeeta Sajith (1976–2022) was an Indian playback singer and Carnatic musician. He worked mainly in South Indian films. He died on 22 May 2022 due to kidney related ailments.

Sangeetha Sajith was born in 1976 (age 46 years; as of 2022) in Nagampadam, Kottayam, Kerala. Later she settled in Chennai.

Sangeetha Sajith started her career as a singer with the Tamil song “MTV Parthuputta” from the film ‘Naalaiya Theerpu’ (1992). She worked as a singer in more than 200 songs.
She became famous with the Tamil song ‘Thanirai Kadhalikum’ from the film ‘Mr.’ ‘Romeo’ (1996) composed by famous Indian composer AR Rahman. He lent his voice to songs like “Aambili Poovattam” from ‘Ennu Swantham Janakikutty’ (1998), “Aalaare Govinda” from ‘Kakkakuyil’ (2001), “Odathandil Thalam Kottam” and “Dhoom” from ‘Pazhassi Raja’ (2009) . ‘Dhoom Dooreyatho’ from ‘Rakkilipattu’ (2013). She sang the Malayalam song “Thalam Poyi” from the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ (2009). At one of the Tamil Nadu government’s film awards ceremonies, she sang the Tamil song “Gyana Pazhathai Pizhinthu”. J Jayalalitha, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who was present as the chief guest at the ceremony, liked her song so much that she gifted Sangeeta a gold chain. In 2020, she lent her voice to the Malayalam song “Thalam Poyi” from the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. His last song was the theme song of the Malayalam film ‘Kuruthi’ (2021).
Death
Sangeeta died on 22 May 2022 at the age of 46. He was undergoing treatment for kidney related diseases for some time. He breathed his last at his sister’s residence in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His last rites were performed at Santhi Kavadaman public crematorium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Various South Indian celebrities like veteran Indian singer KS Chitra shared their grief over Sangeeta’s demise. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also expressed his condolences. Indian song composer Jake Bejoy took to Facebook to share his grief. While uploading a picture of Sangeeta, he captioned it,
You were always so sweet and warm. It’s a privilege that I could work with you on the song ‘Thalam Pooyi’.
