Sangeeta Jindal is married to Sajjan Jindal who is an industrialist. Sajjan is the Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group. The couple married in 1984. They have three children, Parth, Tarini and Tanvi. Parth Jindal is a businessman and works for JSW Group. Tarini Jindal Honda is the Managing Director of JSW Realty and has run Muse Boutique which is a designer fashion store. Tanvi Jindal Shete has served as Director of JSW Foundation and Managing Trustee of Jindal Education Trust, among other roles.

Sangeeta Jindal is the chairperson of JSW (Jindal South West) Foundation which is a part of the JSW Group. At JSW Foundation, his primary focus lies in enhancing the quality of life of individuals through empowerment initiatives and advocacy. As part of the JSW Foundation, Sangeeta engages in philanthropic work and through vocational training, building partnerships and alliances with institutions, facilitating holistic development programs for the mentally challenged and through rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). Involves herself in various projects like empowering women. , Under the JSW Foundation, Sangeeta also focuses on conservation efforts at the Sir JJ School of Arts, Mumbai. Sangeeta liked Sajjan Jindal’s suggestion of restoring an existing school instead of opening a new school, which led to the renovation of JJ School of Art.

Under Sangeeta’s leadership, JSW received the Golden Peacock Award for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in 2009 for the initiatives and actions taken by her. Then in 2019, Jindal Steel & Power Limited, Gurugram won the Golden Peacock Award for CSR work.

Sangeeta Jindal has actively contributed to various initiatives, including the Mission Hajar campaign, a program for child and maternal health adopted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao” campaign. Sangeeta has spoken about her commitment to helping empower women in many interviews. Her influence is recognized internationally, and the work she has done to advance gender equality has led to her being invited to chair the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles Initiative in India. Sangeeta has also played an important role in environmental protection by promoting and institutionalizing the Earth Care Awards.

In 1994, Sangeeta founded the Jindal Arts Centre, which produced India’s first magazine dedicated to contemporary art, Art India. Talking about Art India, Sangeeta has said,
It has created a platform for inspired conversations between artists, critics, historians, architects, writers and collectors and has had a definite impact on the community. With Art India Education, we hope to invite students and teachers to participate in a process of continuous learning, an ideal in which I strongly believe. Our new initiative hopes to make learning about modern and contemporary art a more invigorating experience – one that is enjoyable and joyful. Illuminating in equal measure.
Sangeeta has also served as the Chairperson of Kala Ghoda Mahotsav from 2000 to 2003, making significant contribution in promoting art and culture. Sangeeta also helped in the restoration of the David Sassoon Library and Reading Room in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.

In addition to her work with the JSW Foundation, Sangeeta founded the Hampi Foundation in 2000, dedicated to the conservation of three temples in Hampi. In an interview, she revealed that she first visited Hampi in 1983, and said,
My husband and I were going to build a plant near Karnataka and while we were there, I did not have much work to do. So, I asked if there was any temple nearby that I could visit. I went and I was so fascinated by this whole area of Hampi. People told me there was a foreigner there [author George Michell] Who was there who was trying to improve Hampi? So I decided to meet him. He asked ‘Why have you come here?’ Do you know anything about Hampi?’ When I said ‘no’, he gave me a book to read and when he finally realized I had the tenacity, we talked about how we could help restore Hampi. And we haven’t looked back since.”
Additionally, Sangeeta has been invited to be part of the India Advisory Board of Prince’s Charities, the philanthropy of the Prince of Wales, and has been named as a member of the Council of the National Fund for Culture. Sangeeta is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the India Chapter of the World Memorial Fund, the Tate International Council and the UN Women Business Sector Advisory Council. Sangeeta has been involved in civic projects (for example, the restoration of the Keneseth Eliyahu Synagogue) within Mumbai. Reflecting on her journey, Sangeeta shares memories of her early days in Mumbai, where she met JJ Bhabha (one of the founders of the Tata Central Archives and founder of the National Center for the Performing Arts) for guidance . Then he became his guru. Despite his lack of formal qualifications, his enthusiasm and willingness to learn made their two-year collaboration fruitful.

In 2011, Sangeeta Jindal had to pay a fine and penalty of over Rs 10 lakh for carrying undeclared diamond jewelery and other imported valuables worth Rs 60 lakh when she returned from a foreign trip in October 2010. Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport said that when Sangeeta Jindal reached the airport, she had goods worth Rs 21 lakh purchased in London and undeclared jewelery worth Rs 39 lakh, which she had taken from India. A customs officer said,
Ideally, Sangeeta should have declared the jewelery when she left for London to obtain the export certificate. But he did not do so. Even after returning, information about the jewelery was not given. Apart from this, he also purchased additional valuables worth Rs 21 lakh, for which no duty was paid.’
Customs Commissioner PM Govande said,
The verdict in Sangeeta Jindal’s case has now come and fine and penalty have been imposed on her as per Customs rules and regulations.”
In her statement to the Customs Department, Sangeeta admitted her mistake and cited ignorance for not declaring her goods and jewellery. Customs officials said the seized jewelery would be returned to him on payment of fine and penalty.

In 2014 it was decided that Sangeeta Jindal would receive an annual salary of Rs. will be paid.
