Sandhya Shekhar was born on Monday, 11 June 1984 (age 38 years; as in 2022) in Udupi, Karnataka. His zodiac sign is Gemini. Her friends also call her Sandy. He earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the International School of Business and Media. After discovering her interest in makeup and deciding to make a career out of it, Shekhar did a professional course in makeup in Bengaluru under the guidance of her hair stylist Prabhat and her dear friend Sitara Cudige, who is a stylist. Later, she went to the London School of Beauty and Make-up and did a one-month course there. After this he did another professional course with Nahusha Pise in Mumbai.

Growing up in a village, she didn’t know that makeup could be a career option on a large scale. She thought it was limited to beauty parlors only. Later, when she moved to Bangalore, she learned about career options in the field of makeup through her hair stylist Prabhat and her friend Sithara Kudige, a leading stylist in Bangalore. Before entering the field of makeup, Sandhya worked in a corporate job at Yes Bank in Bengaluru for a year. Initially, she started her career as a makeup artist in Bengaluru but did not get a good response after which she moved to Mumbai. At the beginning of her career, she started getting orders for bridal makeup and gradually she started getting offers for models’ makeup as well. In 2005, she began her career in the industry professionally as a celebrity makeup artist and worked for an MTV promo and did her first fashion editorial for the magazine Grazia, which she considers turning points in her career. Most of the popular magazines like Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, GQ, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan etc. are clients of Sandhya Shekhar. He has done makeup for many Bollywood actresses including Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandes, Aditi Rao Hydari, Parineeti Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.

She is known for creating Deepika Padukone’s iconic looks at the Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival. She considers herself grateful for getting this opportunity. Talking about this in an interview given to Grazia magazine, he said,
Doing Deepika Padukone’s makeup for this year’s Met Gala. Working at the Oscars or Met Gala is every makeup artist’s dream. And I’m very fortunate and grateful that I got this opportunity this year.”
