Sandhya Devanathan is an Indian banker turned technocrat and business executive who was appointed as the Vice President of Facebook’s parent company Meta India on 17 November 2022. She will take up the responsibility of this role from January 1, 2023.

Sandhya Devanathan was born in 1976 (age 46 years; as of 2022) in Andhra Pradesh. After completing her schooling, Sandhya joined Andhra University in Visakhapatnam to pursue B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (1994–1998). While studying at Andhra University, he actively participated in technical festivals, speech and debate competitions.
He then joined the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University to pursue MBA (1998–2000). Subsequently, he did a one-year course in leadership at Saeed Business School, University of Oxford (2014).

Sandhya Devanathan began her career with Citi, an American multinational investment bank and financial services corporation, in 2000 as a webmaster and product manager for the Citibank Online and e-Business team. He served in this position for about three years and was promoted in 2003. Major products of personal loan. In August 2005, she went to the Philippines on assignment as part of the company’s Excel Leadership Program and began working there as assistant vice president of portfolio management and customer retention for credit cards. A year later, he was promoted to vice president of the offshore segment of customer franchise management and moved to the United States. In 2007, Sandhya was appointed as the Director of the International Consumer Credit Group at Citibank. From July 2008 to December 2009, Devanathan worked as the Director of Sales Performance Management at International Retail Bank and later resigned from the firm.
In 2009, she moved to Singapore and joined Standard Chartered Bank as global head of cross-selling and pricing. In July 2012, she became the managing director and head of the credit cards and unsecured loans department. In December 2014, she became managing director of retail banking and payment products. Sandhya resigned from the company in 2015.
Devanathan joined The Facebook Company (now called Meta) in 2016 and served at the firm in various positions. She joined the firm as group director and six months later was promoted to country managing director of Singapore and business head of Vietnam. In 2020, Sandhya was appointed as the Vice President of Asia Pacific Gaming at Meta. On 17 November 2022, Meta appointed him vice president and head of its Indian operations. He replaces Ajit Mohan, former India head of Meta, who resigned from the firm in November 2022. Sandhya is set to assume her role as Vice President of Meta India on January 1, 2022.
Announcing his new role at the company, Meta’s Chief Business Officer Marne Levin released a statement that read,
I am delighted to welcome Sandhya as our new leader for India. Sandhya has a proven track record of growing businesses, building exceptional and inclusive teams, driving product innovation, and building strong partnerships. We are thrilled to have him lead META’s continued growth in India.”
Devanathan has also served as a board member of several organizations including Paper Financial Services Group, National Library Board (Singapore), Singapore Management University, Ministry of Information and Communications (Singapore), and the Women’s Forum for Economy and Society.
