Controversy

Amarinder Singh tussle with Raja Waring

In 2022, there was a clash between Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring and Congress MLA from Abohar Sandeep Jakhar. Their disagreement centered on Sandeep’s close ties with his uncle Sunil Jakhar, who had defected from the Congress to the BJP. During a Congress event called Tiranga Yatra, Waring challenged Sandeep to leave the party and retain his seat if he truly believed that he had support in Abohar. Waring criticized Jakhar and accused him of betraying the party. Waring also said that Jakhar was undermining the prospects of the Indian National Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. In response, Sandeep said that Waring’s comments are a sign of immaturity. He requested Waring not to break party rules by making such immature statements in the public sphere.
