Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G Is The First Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 Laptop

Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G laptop, the first to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 chipset. Released in 2021, the first-generation Galaxy Book Go was an inexpensive ARM-based Windows laptop. It is available in both 4G and 5G versions. Samsung also sells Wi-Fi-only PC models.

This time Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G does not have a 4G model, but buyers can get a Wi-Fi model if they want. Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Book 2 Go with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c + Gen 3 chipset, which was announced a little over a year ago but has only just debuted on the device. This chip replaces the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 chip in the 4G version and the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chip in the 5G version.

The new laptop retains the same 14-inch FHD TFT screen size of the previous generation, but it is unclear if the display panel will be the same. Samsung says the monitor has a compact body that weighs 1.44kg (3.17lbs) and is 15.5mm thin. In addition, the Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G has also passed the high temperature, low temperature, thermal shock and other tests of MIL-STD-810H. The laptop has a 180-degree hinge so users can lay the screen flat.

The Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 powers it is a 6nm chip that delivers a significant performance boost. According to Qualcomm, this chipset offers 60% better multi-threaded CPU performance, 30% better single-threaded CPU performance, and 70% better GPU performance than Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 in computers like the Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable and The IdeaPad Chromebook Duet 3.Samsung has paired the chipset with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for extra storage.

The Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G has a physical SIM slot and an eSIM slot for connecting to 5G networks. However, only one SIM card can be used at a time (single standby). Also, it only supports sub-6GHz networks. It also has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB-C ports, a USB-A 2.0 port, and a combo mic/headphone jack. It comes with a 42.3Wh battery and a 45W power adapter.

The Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G runs Windows 11 Home and includes some exclusive Samsung software features, such as the ability to use the Galaxy Tab as a second display and easily switch selected Galaxy Buds models between connected devices. There’s also a tool to transfer files, apps, and settings from an existing computer to a new laptop, while Samsung’s Quick Share (which works like Nearby Share) lets users transfer files between Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G Wi-Fi model starts at £499 (about $615) with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 5G model with the same configuration increases to £649 (about $800), while the 5G model with twice the RAM and storage costs £749 (about $925). It will be available at the end of January. Samsung has yet to reveal details about the Galaxy Book 2 Go 5G offering in the US.
