Samrat Chaudhary entered active politics in 1990 and was sworn in as Agriculture Minister in the Government of Bihar under the Rabri Devi government on 19 May 1999. Allegation of age fraud
In November 1999, Samrat Chaudhary was dismissed from the Rabri Devi Cabinet by Governor Suraj Bhan on the grounds that he was under age; He cited Article 164 of the Constitution which implies that to become a minister, a person must have attained the age eligible to be a member of the State Legislative Assembly (25) or Legislative Council (30). Furthermore, Governor Suraj Bhan directed the state government to register a case of fraud, forgery and misrepresentation against Chaudhary and initiate repayment of all salaries and benefits given to him since his appointment as minister.
