Salhotuonuo Kruse is an Indian social worker, politician and entrepreneur who contested the 2023 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election. She came into limelight in March 2023 when she and Hekani Jakhalu became the first women to become members of the Legislative Assembly of Nagaland.

Salhotuonuo Kruse was born in 1967 (age 56 years; as of 2023) in Nagaland, India. After completing high school at Ministers Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School (MHBHSS) in Kohima, Nagaland, he joined Kohima College, where he completed a pre-university course in arts in 1986.

She emerged victorious in the election, defeating Kenizakho Nkharo, an independent candidate, by 7 votes. While giving an interview he said,
Today we have made history! Today we have created history. This is our important victory. I attribute this victory to Almighty God and my citizens of Western Angami. I am very grateful for the support everyone has given me.”

She became the first woman minister of Nagaland after joining the Nagaland cabinet as a minister on 7 March 2023.

Before becoming a politician, Salhautuonuo Kruse was associated with several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nagaland and worked for women’s rights. In 2011, she took over the presidency of Angamimiapfu Mechu Krotho (now known as Angami Women’s Organisation). She remained on this post till 2014.
