SAG-AFTRA Supports ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Cast Amid Strikes, Says They’re Not Breaking Rules

SAG-AFTRA has clarified things dancing with the stars‘ returns amid Hollywood strikes.

Despite pressure from the Writers Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA has stated that DWTS Cast members are not acting in violation of strike rules when the show premieres its 32nd season on September 26.

In a statement provided to VarietyA SAG-AFTRA spokesperson said: “Our members who appear on dancing with the stars They are working under the Network Code agreement, which is an unsigned contract. “They are required to go to work, they do not violate SAG-AFTRA strike rules, and we support them in meeting their contractual obligations.”

The statement adds: “The show is a non-dramatic SAG-AFTRA production under a separate agreement that is not subject to the union’s strike order. Most of our members in dancing with the stars had contractual obligations to the show before the strike. Many have option agreements that require them to return to the show if the producer exercises his option, which he already did.”

Despite SAG-AFTRA’s strong support for striking unions in the industry, it recognizes that certain members are required to work.

“It is important to recognize that SAG-AFTRA is fighting the studios and not the members who must go to work every day under other union contracts or personal service agreements. “We support our union brothers across the industry and also recognize our obligations under federal labor law.”

DWTS It currently has two hosts, three judges, and professional dancers as members of SAG-AFTRA along with much of its celebrity cast.
