SAG-AFTRA reaches provisional agreement with studios and ends actors’ strike

After 118 days on strike, SAG-AFTRA has officially reached a new tentative agreement with the studios.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the provisional contract, “which still must be ratified by the union’s board of directors and members, would increase members’ minimum wage, increase residual payments for programs broadcast online and reinforce contributions to the union’s health and pension plans. labor union. “It also sets new rules for the use of artificial intelligence, a major source of concern for actors.”

The SAG-AFTRA bargaining committee approved the tentative agreement with the major studios and the strike will officially end on November 9.

“In a unanimous vote this afternoon, the SAG-AFTRA Theater/TV Committee approved a tentative agreement with AMPTP ending the 118-day strike,” the union said in a statement. “The strike officially ends at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 9.”

SAG-AFTRA members walked out on July 14 and joined striking members of the Writers Guild of America. The WGA ended its nearly 150-day strike in late September when they reached a new contract.
