Safin Hasan is the youngest IPS officer of India. He was selected as an IPS officer at the age of 22. He is a 2018 batch IPS officer from Gujarat cadre.

Safin Hasan was born on Friday, 21 July 1995 (age 24 years; as in 2019) in Palanpur, Gujarat. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He did his schooling from S KM High School in Kanodar, Gujarat and Ascent School of Science in Palanpur, Gujarat. He did B.Tech. Studied. in Electronics and Communication from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat.

His family was financially weak during his youth. His parents used to do small jobs in their village to run the household. Safin studied in a Gujarati-medium school and did not learn English until the 11th grade. Once, when he was in school, a collector came to his school for inspection. Safin was surprised to see that his school principal and his teachers were treating him like a king. He went home, and asked his aunt why the collector was being treated with so much respect. His aunt told him that the Collector was an IAS officer, which is a very respectable post and anyone can become an IAS officer by working hard. This was the day when Safin decided to become an IAS officer.

Safin Hasan follows the religion of Islam, and he belongs to the Julaya caste. His father, Mustafa Hasan, is an employee in a diamond unit, and he used to be a part-time electrician in his village. His mother Nasimbanu is also a worker in a diamond unit and she also worked as a cook in people’s homes, restaurants and at parties to fund Safin’s education. He has a younger brother, Asnain Hassan.

In 2017, Safin attempted the UPSC exam for the first time. While he was going towards the examination centre, he met with an accident and sustained injuries on his head, hand and leg. However, the accident did not break his courage and he still went to appear for his examination. After the exam was over he had to be admitted to the hospital; Because his injuries were serious and he suffered a Tier 3 knee ligament injury, he had to undergo surgery. His efforts paid off and he achieved an AIR of 570.

His UPSC interview was scheduled on 23 March 2018. On 20 February 2018, he was admitted to a hospital in Gujarat after suffering a urinary infection and his white blood cell (WBC) count exceeding the upper limit. On 1 March 2018, he was discharged, and moved back to New Delhi. However, he had to fly back to Gujarat two days later and was hospitalized as he had problems with his tonsils and his WBC had also reached 30,000. On 15 March 2018, he was discharged from the hospital and returned to New Delhi. He participated in his interview on 23 March 2018 and was the second highest scorer in the interview.

After his interview Hasan was selected as an IPS officer. Although Safin wanted to become an IAS, he chose IPS; Because he wanted to serve his country in any way. Once in an interview he said-

I really wanted to join IAS but I could not qualify the exam. So I decided to pursue my career as an IPS officer and use this opportunity to serve my country.

He underwent police training during 2018 and 2019 and on 23 December 2019, he was posted as the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Jamnagar, Gujarat.

I have no blood relation with him, but we have a human relation and that is above all. This is the reason why I could afford to study in Delhi.
