Saadia played the character of ‘Shanti Dhar’ in the film. The film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in 1990.
The official trailer of ‘Shikara’ was launched by Fox Star Studios on 7 January 2020. AR Rahman played the film’s theme song live at the launch event.

Saadia and Adil were also introduced to the public as lead actors in the same programme. At the launch event, both of them read a poem from their film.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra dedicated this film to his mother. Vidhu said in an interview,
Shikara is a tribute to my mother. In 1989, she came to Bombay for the premiere of Parinda, but could not go back to Kashmir. Shikara is about her house, my house and how we lost that house. So this is a very personal story. But despite everything my mother endured, she only had love for the people, for the valley, for our home, and that love truly overcame every other emotion she felt – whether she Be it disappointment, anger or loss. And that’s why I made this film.
The first song of the film was released on 20 January 2020. This is a romantic song which has been filmed on Adil and Saadia. The song is sung by Shraddha Mishra and Papon.
