According to Entertainment Weekly, Rutina Wesley will play Maria Miller in HBO’s highly anticipated post-apocalyptic drama series The Last of Us. Maria is a character in the PlayStation game of the same name. Ashley Scott plays a role in the game. According to Entertainment Weekly, the character is defined as “the head of a community of survivors in Jackson, Wyoming”. At this time, not much is known about Rutina Wesley’s involvement. Wesley is a popular actress best known for her roles in Queen Sugar and True Blood.

Rutina Wesley was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 21, 1978, to Cassandra Wesley and Ivery Wheeler. She grew up in Las Vegas, where she attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts. Wesley holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater Performance. After beginning her career in theatre, Wesley moved into the film industry with a prominent role in Ian Iqbal Rashid’s How She Move, in which she played the lead role, Raya Green. The painting was a financial success and received excellent reviews from both audiences and reviewers.
