Hellafied, Robert Gordon’s last album, will be released in November 2022.

Robert Gordon, born March 29, 1947, was heavily influenced by Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel when he was 9 years old. He also admires Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Billy Lee Ridley and other famous rock ‘n roll musicians. Gordon made his musical debut as lead vocalist for the Confidentials when he was 17 years old in 1964. He hung out with artists like James Brown and Otis Redding, who performed at the Howard Theater in Washington, DC. During the riots and antiwar protests of the late 1960s in Washington, DC, he served in the National Guard.

In 1970, Robert moved to New York and joined the punk band Tuff Darts. The band recorded three songs for the Live at CBGB compilation CD. While practicing with Tuff Darts, producer Richard Gottehrer saw him and they thought about making a rock & roll album. Gordon suggested a partnership with guitarist Link Wray, who agreed, leading to a 1977 collaboration between Robert Gordon and Link Wray.

The record became a hit when Elvis Presley died in 1977, and Private Labels attempted to market Gordon as Presley’s successor. Gordon followed with another album, Fresh Fish Special, in 1978, and signed with RCA Records the following year. The following year, Gordon released the album Rock Billy Boogie, followed by another album, Bad Boy, in 1980. In 1981, he released his last album with the label, Are You Gonna Be The One.

In the early 1980s, Robert Gordon toured with Danny Gatton, and during the 1990s he traveled with Chris Spedding to many countries. He also toured with Spedding in 2005, and concert highlights have been released on their own label.

In celebration of Elvis’s 30th death anniversary, they also made an album with Jordanaires that included 15 Presley songs. Robert has also toured with bands of Marco DiMaggio, Slim Jim Phantom and Glen Matlock. I’m Coming Home, his next album, was released in June 2014. He appeared in the 1981 outlaw motorcycle film The Loveless. After that, it was often shown on television, including the popular comedy show SCTV. Hellafied, his latest album, is scheduled to be released on November 25.
