In 2017, Rinku participated in the 44th Junior National Kabaddi Championship and represented the Chandigarh team. The following year, he participated in the Khelo India School Games in which his home state won the gold medal. In 2021, he was selected by Mumbai-based Pro Kabaddi League team ‘U Mumba’ for Season 8 and bought in the auction for Rs. 32 lakhs. He scored a total of 60 tackle points with an average time on the mat of 73.51%. He scored 60 points in 22 matches in his first PKL season.

  • Rinku Sharma always wanted to join Team ‘U Mumba’ because her favorite defender and Iranian Kabaddi player Fazel Atrachali was in that team. Apart from ‘U Mumba’, his other favorite Pro Kabaddi League team was ‘Patna Pirates’.
  • As a raider, Rinku considers Pradeep Narwal as his biggest inspiration. He considers Iranian player Fazel Atrachali as his role model in terms of defending in Kabaddi.

  • Rinku Sharma started playing Kabaddi at the age of 12 as Kabaddi is the most prominent sport in her native village. He was inspired by seeing his senior players who were from the same village and are now famous Indian Kabaddi players like Pradeep Narwal, Rajesh Narwal and Joginder Narwal.
  • Rinku’s favorite defensive move is the ‘dash’ where a defender runs towards the raider with great force and pushes them out of the playing area and prevents them from crossing the center line.
  • Rinku’s parents wanted her to study and get a good job; However, her elder brother Lokesh Sharma wanted her to play Kabaddi and it was he who introduced Rinku to the field of Kabaddi.
  • The Pro Kabaddi League started in 2014 when Rinku was still studying in school and that’s when he saw senior players getting so much recognition and government jobs. This was the moment when Rinku chose Kabaddi instead of studies.
  • When he was studying in school, Rinku used to skip his classes to attend domestic Kabaddi matches and anyway he was not interested in studies and he thought of improving his Kabaddi skills at that time.
