With her partner ASAP Rocky preparing for his upcoming trial, Rihanna is focusing on staying calm during the legal troubles.
A source close to the couple said Us weekly that Rihanna is trying to stay calm as ASAP Rocky heads to trial on Monday, January 8. “She knows the whole situation is out of her control,” the source explained. “And all she can do is be there to show her support for Rocky.”
However, while it has been stressful for the couple, the source said Rihanna has been strong for the entire family. “[She] “He’s holding it all together for the sake of his kids and Rocky.”
ASAP Rocky was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in 2022 for allegedly getting into an altercation with an acquaintance in November 2021. During the incident, he shot and injured the victim. Hours after his arrest, the rapper was released on bail. He was later named in a civil lawsuit on charges of assault, battery and emotional distress.
During a preliminary hearing in November 2023, the judge determined sufficient evidence to have a trial.
In a statement, the rapper’s lawyers denied the allegations. “The defendant generally denies each and every allegation in the complaint and specifically denies that the plaintiff has suffered damages in any amount or in any way as a result of any act or omission of the responding defendant. The injuries and/or damages alleged in the complaint, if any, were caused solely, directly and proximately by negligent and/or intentional acts or omissions of a person other than the responding defendant.”
Rihanna and ASAP Rocky have been together since at least May 2021. They have two children together.
Rihanna recently declared that she loves ASAP Rocky ‘differently like dad’
During a December 2023 interview with page six, Rihanna opened up about her relationship with ASAP Rocky and what she thinks of him now that they have two children together.
“I love him differently as a father,” Rihanna said. “This is important, important… it’s exciting. It’s like, wow. What a leader, what a great, patient, loving leader! [dad]…and my kids are obsessed with it. I’m just background, like he’s an extra.”
Rihanna also pointed out that there is no love like that between a child and his father. “It doesn’t matter if they’re girls or boys, they love their dad differently and I love seeing it.”
ASAP Rocky recently spoke about collaborating with Rihanna on a project for Puma. “What could we do as a team and just smash it and go crazy? I think we do a great job collaborating and creating kids. I think that’s our best creation yet. Nothing is better than that.”
