Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu Art Imagines Her As a Pokémon

A new piece of fan art reimagines Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village as a Pokémon. The latest installment in the Resident Evil series debuted last month and was received well by the gaming community.

Lady Dimitrescu first came onto the Resident Evil scene long before the game’s launch as part of its demo back in January of this year, and instantly became a meme of sorts for a variety of reasons, particularly her height. Developer Capcom then seemed to lean into the internet hype and pushed the character more during the marketing campaign leading up to release. It was not until the launch of Resident Evil Village, however, when it was revealed that Lady Dimitrescu’s role in the game was not as major as fans might have been led to believe. Despite this, her popularity still seems to be strong as fans continue to pay tributes in unique and creative ways.

The most recent example of this comes from the Instagram artist group woodenplankstudios, who posted an image that reimagined Lady Dimitrescu in the world of Pocket Monsters. She is fittingly a dark-type Pokémon and her name, according to the account, is Mominatrix. The image was the latest installment in a running series woodenplankstudios calls Fake Monday where a new drawing of an imagined and unofficial Pokémon is debuted at the start of the week. Other such entries in this ongoing series include John Wick and a Lynel from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The fact that this image was released nearly a full month after Resident Evil Village‘s launch and is still is managing to get a lot of positive feedback from fans is a testament to just how much Lady Dimitrescu resonated with the community, ironically or otherwise. It comes long after the character’s role was made public, and even though she might not have quite lived up to Capcom’s marketing, this was not enough to diminish the good will that had already been established. Lady Dimitrescu may end up being a sustained presence in pop culture as a result.

Getting the Pokémon fan art treatment has become an unofficial signal that something has transcended its own fandom and become part of the wider popular zeitgeist. Many have received the honor before and more will get it in the future. That said, Resident Evil Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu seemed to be an ideal candidate for the Pocket Monster fan art adaptation, and it was only a matter of time before it came to fruition.

Resident Evil Village is out now for PC via Steam, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
