Rekha was born on 10 October 1954 (age 68 years; as in 2022) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His zodiac sign is Libra. She studied at Church Park Convent School, Chennai. Rekha wanted to become an air hostess during her childhood days. However, she was rejected because she was too young at the time. Then, she thought of becoming a nun as there were many nuns in her convent school, but her family’s troubled financial condition forced her to work in B and C grade Telugu films. Rekha started her acting career in 1999 with the Kannada film “Operation Jackpot Nalli CID 999”. Subsequently, she acted in the Telugu film “Amma Kosam”. His Bollywood debut was with the film “Sawan Bhadon”. She had to learn Hindi for the film as she was not that good at speaking the language fluently. The film was a box office hit and established Rekha as an actress. - 15 year old Rekha became victim of controversy during the shooting of her film “Anjaana Safar” with Vishwajit Chatterjee. It is mentioned in her biography that a romantic scene featuring Rekha and Vishwajit Chatterjee was to be shot without any intimate/objectionable action. However, as the camera panned, Biswajeet grabbed her from behind and pressed his lips on her without giving her time to react. The director kept shouting “Cut” but Biswajeet did not stop for at least 5 minutes and the crew members kept whistling and mocking the scene. The biography further alleged that both the actor and the director had committed the act for their personal and professional gain respectively.
- Rekha’s love affair with actor Vinod Mehra was once the talk of the town. It was also speculated that the two got married in a secret ceremony in Kolkata, but when Vinod took Rekha to his home, his mother became extremely hostile towards Rekha. When the actress tried to take blessings from Rekha, she pushed her. She kept abusing and humiliating Rekha and even refused to let her enter the house. Vinod tried to keep the matter under control but his mother was so angry that she even took off her sandals and almost attacked Rekha.
- Rishi Kapoor married Neetu Singh on 22 January 1980. During their wedding, many Bollywood celebrities including Rekha, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were invited to the event. Rekha entered the venue in a white saree with a red bindi on her forehead and vermillion in her hair. She moved straight towards Amitabh and kept fighting with him for about 5 minutes. - According to her biography, Rekha: The Untold Story, her husband, Mukesh Aggarwal, was a patient of chronic depression and was also seeing a psychiatrist for it. A year after their marriage, on 2 October 1990, Mukesh committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his bedroom, after which people started blaming Rekha for this incident and even declared her a ‘man-eating witch’. .
