Chad was initially hesitant to discuss the criticism, but changed his mind when bandmate Ryan Peake explained the benefits of including it in his story.

“We can take the narrative. We can actually tell our side: It’s like you turn your cheek as much as you can, and then at some point this is our opinion on it,” Ryan explained.

When asked about his doubts, Chad grabbed the journalist’s recorder, as if he were conducting the interview himself.

“If someone put that thing in your face every day and said, ‘The whole world hates you like that, the whole world hates you.’ what do you have to say about it? Every day. Every day. Would there be reluctance on your part to talk about it? Would you get angry? Will you get over it after a while? she asked.

“I’m over it,” he continued. “We made a documentary, everyone can see it. And now, from this day on, if someone asks that question in the press, it’s like that’s the end of the interview. So if you want to end an interview, that’s all you have to say and that’ll be it.”
