After coming to India to pursue my degree in Architectural Apprenticeship and Interior Design along with a second degree in IT and Management, I got married in India and that too in a very small town called Ambala. 35 years ago it was practically non-existent in every way and was a typical hinterland settlement with conservative thought processes and a land forgotten by the world except for its military history. It was a big cultural shock for me at that time. These years, especially from coming from Kenya with an open mindset and upbringing to overcoming all kinds of obstacles and regressive traditional ideologies during the following years, have basically been the inspiration behind a lot of my artworks. ..You can see the story of most of the girls then and still are in my paintings.”

My association with art started 5 years ago when my daughter decided enough was enough…I had to do something for myself, something creative and personal, now I am free from most of the domestic obligations that keep me from pursuing a career. Or prevented her from pursuing her hobby. The parents were gone, the children had grown up and become independent and order was established in the home. She agreed with my boys and decided to buy every possible art supply they could think of and gift it to me for my birthday. It was a very pleasant shock to me when I was told “Don’t make any more excuses and get to work”!
