Rashmi Tyagi was born in Kharkhoda, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She graduated from Raghunath Girls Post Graduate College in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her full name is Rashmi Tyagi Rawat. After this he did M.Phil (Psychology) and then PhD (Psychology) from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut.

After completing her formal education, Rashmi decided to take up the teaching profession. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at DAV Post Graduate College, Dehradun.
Facts/General Knowledge
- Like her husband Tirath Singh Rawat, Rashmi Tyagi was also active in student politics during her college days and was a leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He contested the student union election for the post of college president at Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut in 1994. Even now, she is seen campaigning for her husband before political elections.
- During her youthful days, Rashmi was also inclined towards drama. She has been given the title of Miss RG and Miss Meerut.
- Born and brought up in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Rashmi moved to Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand after marrying Tirath Singh Rawat.
- Rashmi is also a social worker and has previously worked for Surabhi Parivar, a Meerut-based social organisation.
- Reportedly, Rashmi’s grandfather, Ved Prakash Tyagi, participated in India’s freedom struggle, for which he was jailed more than 50 times during the British rule in India. He was an influential personality and was known as Mini Gandhi among the people of his area. He died due to a road accident in the late 1980s.
