Rapper Shyne Claims He Was the Scapegoat for Infamous 1999 Nightclub Shooting Involving Diddy

Popular ’90s rapper Shyne has broken his silence about the infamous 1999 nightclub shooting that landed him in prison. Many speculated that Shyne had been P.Diddy’s scapegoat. During the time he signed with the mogul’s Bad Boy Records.

For the first time, Shyne publicly claims his innocence. Stating that he only defended himself during the 1999 incident.

Shyne talks about the 1999 shooting

“I’m just saying that I maintained my innocence all this time. I said I was defending myself, I didn’t go into who did what, but the victim is telling you who did what and I understand that there are other witnesses,” she stated.

“I’m relieved that people are saying what the truth is, that I didn’t shoot those people; I maintain that I never shot anyone, that there were other weapons there. I have always said that, that has not changed and that is the testimony that came out.”

Shyne never accuses Diddy of doing anything, he simply maintains his innocence. He also thanked the hip-hop mogul for his contributions to his country Belize, and said he “wishes him the best.”

“I wish him the best and I pray for him, and I pray for the alleged victims, and if it is true, that justice be done and if not, it is a tragedy because a world icon would have been destroyed,” he added.

Victim speaks out about nightclub incident

Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison, which ultimately marked the end of his rap career. It is already a regrettable situation. But it would be even more unfortunate if the former Bad Boy artist was serving time for a crime he didn’t commit.

One of the victims, Natania Reuben, has testified for years that it was Diddy who fired the gun. But she says the hip-hop mogul’s influence was the reason she wasn’t initially believed.

“I had no reason to believe that anyone wouldn’t believe me,” he said. “But as things developed, it was a very short period of time where I realized that’s what was happening.”

He also says the case needs to be reopened so justice can be done properly.

“We all had to go speak before the grand jury. JLo testified before the grand jury, as did many other people. (The criminal case) needs to be reopened, because if that is, in fact, the case, she was carrying the gun and lied to the grand jury. It needs to be reopened,” she added.
