Nearly a month after Emily Willis was hospitalized following an apparent overdose, the adult film star’s family launched a GoFundMe to help pay for medical expenses.
Willis was previously transported to a medical facility in Thousand Oaks, California, after a call for service reported a possible overdose. Sources stated that she was admitted to the ICU, but her condition was unknown at the time.
The 25-year-old adult film star was notably at a celebrity rehab center in Malibu before the overdose incident. She was there to receive addiction treatment.
The Willis family GoFundMe is now seeking $60,000 to cover medical costs. “With heavier hearts than we ever imagined possible, we find ourselves seeking support and care for our beloved Emily Willis,” the GoFundMe description reads.
Emily Willis’ family also described her as a beloved daughter, sister and a beacon of light in the lives of all who know her. “Recently, Emily’s world, and ours, was turned upside down when she was admitted to the hospital, marking the beginning of an incredibly tough and unforeseen battle. With every ounce of her extraordinary strength and bravery, Emily is fighting.”
Additionally, it was revealed that Willis’ road to recovery is far ahead of her and requires a lot of care. “The weight of this position extends beyond the emotional and physical; weighs us down financially. With mounting medical bills, travel needs, all while the regular flow of life’s expenses continues.”
All GoFundMe funds will go towards Emily Willis’ recovery
Emily Willis’ family also revealed exactly where the GoFundMe funds will go. Even with insurance, medical bill costs remain a problem for the 25-year-old’s family.
“The gap in coverage leaves us facing significant out-of-pocket costs for treatments,” the Willis family said. “And essential medications for Emily’s recovery.”
Along with medical expenses, the funds will go towards travel and accommodation for Emily Willis’ family. “To ensure that Emily is never alone, we are committed to being by her side,” her family said. “Which means getting a temporary home away from our personal home to be with her in the hospital.”
Willis’ family added that no donation is too small to help her get through it all. “Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers to give her the strength to recover,” she added.
Since its launch, GoFundMe has raised more than $20,000 from nearly 270 donors.
