Responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the 2400 block of Northwest 2nd Avenue around 1:35 a.m., Miami Police officers found a man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Hicks, 27, was also present and suffered blunt force injuries. Both were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries.

Surveillance footage recovered during the investigation showed Hicks getting out of a white car with his manager, followed by a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation between the two. Another man exited the vehicle and joined the assault on Hicks. They forcibly threw her to the ground and pinned her down until she managed to get to her feet and walk away from her. Hicks subsequently pulled a gun from her purse and fired shots at her as her manager tried to run away from her, eventually collapsing on the road. The other man fled the scene in the car and ran over Hicks.

Claiming self-defense, Hicks explained to authorities that the shooting occurred as a result of a verbal dispute that turned physical, leading her to fear for her life. She was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder. During a bail court hearing, Hicks’ public defender stated that this was a “clear case of self-defense.”

While he was unable to comment on the case, he called for continued support and vehemently denied her description as a “horrible person.”

Last week, a judge granted Hicks bail and house arrest while he awaits trial, according to reports. NBC6. The ongoing legal process creates uncertainty about the fate of the Florida rapper, embroiled in controversy surrounding the fatal altercation.
