Anderson Cooper and Ashley Judd share tearful moment as they remember family lost to suicide

When talking about family losses, Anderson Cooper and Ashley Judd became emotional when talking about family members who committed suicide.

While appearing in Everything with Anderson Cooper On Wednesday, January 10, Judd reflected on the loss of his mother, Naomi Judd. Cooper also said that one of the things he found most difficult about losing his brother to suicide is that he gets caught up in how his life ended, as well as his shock over Carter’s death.

“And realizing that I didn’t really know him,” Cooper continued. Judd noted that his mother’s death was both traumatic and unexpected. “Because she died by suicide and I found her,” he revealed.

Ashley Judd later told Anderson Cooper that while she was shocked by the discovery of her mother’s body, she was glad to be the one to find her. “Even when I walked into that room and saw that she had hurt herself, the first thing out of my mouth was, ‘Mom, I see how much you’ve been hurting and it’s okay… I’m here, and it’s like this.’ It’s okay to let go.’”
