Randy Owen is a country music singer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist from the United States. Randy Owen is widely known as the lead singer of the country-rock band, Alabama.

Early Life

On the 13th of December 1949, Randy Owen was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, in the United States of America. His full name is Randy Yeuell Owen and is an American citizen. Currently, he is 73 years old and has a zodiac sign of Sagittarius. Meanwhile, she belongs to the Caucasian ethnicity and practices the Christianity religion.

He was born to his parents; Gladstone Owen (father) and Martha Owen (mother). By profession, his father was a farmer. In addition, he is the only son of his parents.

RCA Records signed the band, now known as Alabama, to a recording contract in 1980, and they quickly rose to country superstardom. Alabama had a huge impact on country music for the next twenty-two years, attracting a younger audience, crossing over into pop radio, and paving the way for groups to be successful on country radio.

The band released 21 gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums, 42 singles that reached the top of the charts, and sold over 75 million records in total. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and were named the Academy of Country Music’s Artist of the Decade in 1989 and the Recording Industry Association of America’s Country Group of the Century in 1999.

The band announced their retirement during the Academy of Country Music Awards telecast in May 2002. Throughout the rest of 2002 and 2003, they performed across the country as part of their American Farewell Tour. In 2005, the band was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Solo and Charitable works

He released his solo studio albums “One on One” in 2008 and Friends in 2011. Randy was also the host of Country Gold, a Saturday night request show. Besides his musical works, he is a philanthropist. He has also been assisting children who are disadvantaged. Moreover, he has similarly donated quite a bit of his wealth to numerous charities and humanitarian causes.
