Rajit Kapur is a veteran Indian film, theatre and television actor. He is best known for playing the title role in the DD National’s TV serial ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ (1993).

Rajit was born on Sunday, 27 August 1960 (age 59 years; as in 2019), in Amritsar, Punjab. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He did his schooling from Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai. He pursued his graduation in commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.

He was born in a Punjabi family. He belongs to a business family. When he was one and a half years old, Rajit, along with his family, moved to Mumbai. He is not married yet.
Career
When he was six years old, he appeared in the DD National’s TV serial, ‘Khel Khilone.’ While he was in college, he acted in many theatre plays. He started his career as a theatre actor and acted in many theatre plays, like ‘Love Letters,’ ‘Class of ’84,’ ‘Larins Sahib,’ ‘Are There Tigers in the Congo?’ ‘Mr. Behram,’ ‘Six Degrees of Separation, and ‘Pune Highway.’ He has also directed and produced many popular theatre plays.
In 1986, he appeared in the TV serial, ‘Ghar Jamai;’ aired on DD National. In 1993, he was roped in for the popular TV serial, ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ aired on DD National. He played the lead character in this TV serial. He appeared in the sequel of ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ in 1997.
He debuted in the Bollywood film, ‘Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda’ in 1992, directed by Shyam Benegal.
He is well-known for playing the character of ‘Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’ in the Bollywood film ‘The Making of the Mahatma’ (1996). His performance in this film was appreciated by the critics and audience.
He has appeared in various regional films, including the Marathi film ‘Limited Manuski’ (1995), Malayalam film ‘Agnisakshi’ (1999), and Bengali film ‘Abaidha’ (2002).
Later, he acted in the Bollywood films, like ‘Train to Pakistan’ (1998), ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’ (2005), ‘Guzaarish’ (2010), ‘Raazi’ (2018), and ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (2019).
He has appeared in a few web-series, including ‘Bang Baaja Baaraat’ (2015), ‘TVF Tripling Season 2’ (2019), and ‘Bard of Blood’ (2019).
