Rajesh Jais is an Indian theater artist and TV and film actor who has appeared in various Hindi films and TV serials. She is best known for playing the role of Nanu in the Hindi TV serial ‘Shanti’ (1994).

Rajesh Jais was born on Saturday, 6 September 1969 (age 53 years; as in 2022) in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He did his schooling in a government school in Kantatoli, Ranchi, Jharkhand. After this he studied at Shraddhanand Seva Ashram Middle School and Gauri Dutt Mandelia High School in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He did his graduation from Marwari College, Ranchi. He was an NCC Air Force Cadet and Scout in his college.

In 1988, he did a postgraduate course in English Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC, JNU, New Delhi). From 1998 to 1991, he pursued a postgraduate diploma course in acting from the National School of Drama, New Delhi. In 1992, he passed the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) for fellowship in PhD and lectureship. He has also qualified for Asst. Commandant in Coast Guard and Lieutenant in Territorial Army.

  • He joined NCC while he was in school. While studying in college, he did his training in no. 02 Bihar Air Squadron NCC, Ranchi in Air Force Attachment Course. He did Vayu Sainik course, gliding, aero-modelling, gun shooting, 22 rifle, 303 rifle, Light Machine Gun (LMG), 12 bore double barrel gun, .38 revolver and camping to name a few other courses.
  • In 1981, he commanded the contingent for the ‘Guard of Honour’ to the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi at BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. In the same year, he received the President’s Scout from the then President of India, Morarji Desai.
  • He has taken training in Indian classical music from his guru Vinod Pathak.
  • Before pursuing his career as an actor, he used to keep accounts at a tailor shop and also took tuition classes.

I went to director Adi Pocha and said I would not play the peon. I will do this role in the beginning, then I will always be typecast in the same role. They say that if you do five episodes, your role will be different. Then I became Nanu detective.”
