Queen Camilla’s coronation wardrobe features an item first worn by Queen Elizabeth at her coronation

Queen Camilla’s coronation day wardrobe will include something Queen Elizabeth first wore when she was crowned Queen.

Details are being revealed about what the Queen and King Charles will wear when they formally ascend to the throne on May 6.

The King’s Wardrobe also includes a reference to something worn by his grandfather, King George VI, at his 1937 coronation.

Queen Camilla will wear Queen Elizabeth’s robe of state, which was created for her coronation in 1953, according to People. The red velvet robe will be changed to a traditional robe, to be worn in Westminster Abbey after the coronation is complete.

King Charles’s Robe of State was worn by his grandfather at his coronation. He will also wear the old King’s Estate robe. Queen Camilla’s heirloom robe will be custom made for her.

The king and queen’s heirloom robes will be made of matching purple velvet.

We also have a clue as to what Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton) will be wearing to the coronation. There has even been speculation as to which tiara, if any, the Princess of Wales will choose.
