Accusation of demanding dowry from wife
In 2016, Priyansh’s wife accused him of demanding dowry and physically exploiting her. As a result, a case was registered against him at Barela Police Station in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The charges filed include sections 498-A and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, which relate to cruelty by the husband or his relatives, as well as section 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, which prohibits taking or giving dowry. On June 16, 2023, Priyansh had allegedly shot at a woman named Vedika Thakur inside his office in Dhanwantri Nagar. Vedika suffered serious injuries in this incident. Instead of seeking immediate medical help, he drove around carrying Vedika in his car for almost four hours. Eventually, he took her to Smart City Hospital for treatment, but left the hospital premises with the pistol used in the shooting and the CCTV footage of his office. He also contacted Vedika’s brother and informed him about the incident. On 18 June 2023, a video surfaced in which Vedika Thakur admitted that Priyansh was responsible for shooting her.

On June 19, 2023, the police arrested him from Narsinghpur district. After his arrest, he confessed to shooting Vedika. He reached Dhanwantri Nagar police station in a black Scorpio carrying the BJP flag. Initially the police did not register a case against him within 24 hours. However, after Vedhika’s relatives raised questions and concerns about the delay, a case was eventually registered against her at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station. According to Vedika’s uncle Ashok Thakur, her initial condition showed signs of improvement after the incident. However, his condition deteriorated after he was shot in the back, causing an infection that spread throughout his body. As a result, Vedika underwent abdominal surgery and on June 24, 2023, doctors decided to put her on a ventilator. Unfortunately, his organs stopped functioning and on June 26, 2023, at around 11:30 am, doctors declared him dead. Doctors said that his organs were failing and it was not possible to remove the bullet from his spinal cord.
